Alice MD to chair History Festival event this week
The Dublin Festival of History is in full swing at the moment, and - here at Alice - we're delighted to be managing the PR campaign for the Festival for the third year in a row.
We're also delighted that some of our other clients get involved in the Festival each year, running their own lectures, panel discussions and screenings as part of the Festival's programme of events. DIAS Events for the History Festival
This year, the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) has two events on the Festival programme: last Thursday, the Institute hosted a lecture on ‘The Next and Last 100 Years in Astronomy’ by world-renowned Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, who discovered the first pulsar as a graduate student in radio astronomy in Cambridge, revealing a new tool for solving many mysteries of the cosmos. The lecture explored how our understanding of the Universe has evolved and looked ahead to what might be ground-breaking areas of astrophysics in the next few decades. Schrödinger in Ireland
This week, DIAS is hosting a screening of the documentary 'Thinking Outside the Box – Schrödinger in Ireland’, which focuses on the achievements and legacy of Professor Erwin Schrödinger’s time in Dublin. The documentary was produced by Professor Luke O'Neill, world-leading expert on innate immunity and inflammation.
Following the screening, Professor O'Neill will participate in a panel discussion about Schrödinger’s legacy, also featuring Dr. Cormac O’Raifeartaigh, Physics Lecturer at Waterford Institute of Technology, and Dr. Neasa McGarrigle, science writer. Our very own Martina Quinn, MD of Alice, will moderate the discussion.
This Schrödinger event is taking place online on Wednesday, 16th September, at 6pm, and tickets are free of charge. You can register here.
