It’s been a week of looking back at 2016 – Twitter announced their most popular hashtags, YouTube their most viewed videos, which included ‘Carpool Karaoke’ and the bottle flipping craze and Time magazine announced their choice of ‘Person of the Year’ but the less said about that the better!

The Alice team have been out and about, with Martina, Emily and Niamh taking themselves down to Shannon to work on the TEDxShannonEd event, and spent all of Tuesday running around Shannon collecting various items for the event while Elaine, Ciara, Eva and Moji stayed east-side keeping busy with our lovely clients who are all super busy on the run-up to the festive season.

On the plate:

There has been much debate in the office in recent weeks as to the chocolate of choice during the Christmas holidays. The favourite seems to be ‘Quality Street’, though you can’t beat the smell of a tin of ‘Roses’ when they are opened for the first time. There have been a few rogue suggestions of ‘Celebrations’ and ‘Scots Clan’ thrown around too. What’s your favourite? Let us know in the comments section below.

Contrary to what it might seem, we have actually been eating real food too and Eva took herself off to the Sova Vegan Butcher in Pleasants Street, Dublin 8 and had delicious vegan scallops with black pudding. Yum! Meanwhile Emily, Martina and Niamh stayed in the Bunratty Castle Hotel and were pleasantly surprised with their bacon and cabbage.

On the screen:

We’ve spent the week debating our favourite Christmas films and songs and eventually had to put it all to a vote, which you can find the results of in our special December 8th blog. You can vote for yours too – we’d love to hear from you!

Aside from watching tonnes of Christmas films including The Snowman, Love Actually, and Elf, we’ve also been tuned in to other TV! Elaine enjoyed the final of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ and was delighted that Scarlett Moffett won. Elaine is also enjoying the latest series of Brendan O’Connor’s ‘Cutting Edge’. There is always some lively debate and interesting people on it.

On the page:

Emily is reading Graham Norton’s ‘Holding’ and really enjoying it. She finds it an easy read and feels you can hear Graham’s voice and his sense of humour coming out through it.

Niamh and Emily went to ‘Big’ – the musical in the Bord Gais Energy Theatre last night, thanks to the lovely people in Spin 103.8fm. They had an absolute blast!

Elaine spent yesterday morning at her son’s nativity play – it was super cute and they were all very proud of themselves, but not as proud as all of the mums, dads and grandparents in the audience!

What have you been up to this week – please share with us in our comments section below and don’t forget to vote for your favourite Christmas song and film in our Alice Christmas poll!
