Being an almost all-woman team here at Alice PR (hi Darragh!), we’re all very excited to be celebrating International Women’s Day with our clients today.

We’re heading to various events across the city and we’re delighted to shout about them in our latest blog.

Dress for Success International Women’s Day campaign

International women's DAY Alice PRFirst off, Martina, Holly and Gabby are darting around the city with Sonya Lennon to attend some of the over 40 events taking place as part of the Dress for Success Dublin International Women’s Day campaign.

Dress for Success was founded by Sonya Lennon in 2011 to promote the economic independence of women by providing career development tools and a support network. Since then, they have supported over 1,500 women with the clothes, skills and development opportunities they needed to secure employment and achieve success.

Today, for International Women’s Day, Martina & co. are starting out at Permanent TSB, where Sonya will host a panel discussion featuring Senator Lorraine Clifford Lee and journalist Sorcha Pollak, as well as senior leaders from the PTSB team.

From there, they’ll head on to eir, who are headline sponsors of the Dress for Success IWD campaign.  Carolan Lennon was recently appointed CEO of eir, the first female CEO in the company’s history.  So they’re looking forward to hearing what she has to say.

In the afternoon, they’re over in Ballsbridge at AIB Headquarters, where Sonya will deliver a workshop on “dressing for success” to AIB staff.  They finish the day at BDO in the city-centre – with an evening of styling tips, fashion advice and makeovers, which they’re super-excited about!

For more information on the campaign, see http://dressforsuccessdublin.org or tune into ‘The Tonight Show’ on TV3 tonight to hear Sonya speaking about the campaign.

Irish Research Council

International Women's Day 2018 Alice PROur friends at the Irish Research Council have designed an infographic highlighting women’s suffrage and social change. The infographic celebrates International Women’s Day and marks the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote.

Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies

For our clients, the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, we filmed four female researchers  – one from each of their schools –  to mark International Women’s Day. The resulting video will be aired on DIAS’s social media channels today – featuring the women talking about their research, why they think more women should consider a career in research and a wide variety of other topics.

Coalition to Repeal the 8th AmendmentInternational Women's Day 2018 Alice PR

Over at the Garden of Remembrance, our client, the Coalition to Repeal the 8th Amendment, is inviting “all those who support and respect women” to join its third annual International Women Day’s march at 5:30pm.

Sinead Kennedy, Secretary of the Coalition to Repeal the Eighth Amendment, who will chair today’s march in Dublin, said International Women’s Day this year is a particularly apt time to support women’s rights, given the 100-year anniversary of women’s suffrage.

“In 1918, women fighting for their right to vote declared ‘Votes for Women’ as a basic right.  In 2018, as we head into a referendum campaign, we declare ‘Votes for Repeal’ as a basic right for women in the 21st century.”

In addition to the march in Dublin, marches will take place in Belfast, Cork, Galway and Leitrim, along with numerous, small local events around the country.

#HearFromHer

International Women's Day Alice PRFinally, Eva and Holly are heading along to Glandore’s #HearFromHer event this evening. Eva went last year and really enjoyed hearing exciting success stories from inspirational and motivational women. This year, there is a panel discussion with Paula Fitzsimons, Darina Barrett, Susan Spence, and Theresa Lowe. Eva and Holly are really looking forward to sharing stories and meeting likeminded people.

And we’ll finish up our working day by raising a glass to us – the women of Alice PR. Cheers!
