From the Queen’s Theatre in London to listening to Christmas carols, and saying goodbye to Lizzy, it was a busy week here with #TeamAlice! Check out what this week’s recommendations in #WhatTickledAlice.

Out and About

Niamh went home for the weekend to catch up with friends and family, and not forgetting the puppy of course. Her family got their tree on Sunday so she was enlisted to decorate that, hang up the garlands and any other Christmas jobs her mam could find… The place is only magical now, we hear! Niamh’s sister was meanwhile making mince pies so she tucked into a good few of those too! On Monday Niamh used her day off to start and almost finished her Christmas shopping…All in one day? We’re impressed!

Meanwhile, Emily had a brilliant weekend in London. She went over with two friends, to visit another friend who has been living there the past few years. On Friday, she went for a wander around Grosvenor Gardens and to Buckingham Palace and up to Westminster. That evening, they went to Winterville on Clapham Common, which she said was “fierce trendy altogether” . They got there quite late so didn’t see many of the stalls but tucked into burgers around wood fires in barrels and drank lots of beer! And she won a free box of Pringles, so a great start to the weekend! On Saturday, they went into Leicester Square where there was a mini Christmas market and drank some of the best mulled wine Emily has ever had, followed by Les Mis in the Queen’s Theatre which apparently was AMAZING. Emily has loved Les Mis since she was in first year in school and her school did a production of it! Her English teacher (Martina’s mammy!) used to play the DVD for them almost every week in the lead up to it so that they would know all the songs. (Do you heeear the people sing….!)

Ellen had a lovely relaxed weekend, the calm before the Christmas festivities storm! She got the train home on Friday evening and spent it chilling by the fire with her dog and a nice glass of wine. On Saturday, she went to Waterford with her mother and brother to get some Christmas shopping ticked off the list. There was such a nice buzz around, busy but nothing like the craziness in Dublin, and lots of festive activities going on for kids. On Sunday then it was time for a few drinks in The Hairy Lemon. always a good spot!

Lizzy had a nice relaxing last weekend in Dublin! On Friday, she and her friends went to Bray and walked the cliffside walk to Greystones. Although it was slightly chilly, the views made up for itl! Halfway through the walk the sun started to set so the entire sky was a beautiful pink and blue colour. On Saturday, Lizzy had a poke around a few of the Christmas markets in Dublin. All in all – a lovely last weekend in Ireland.

Martina was focused on Christmas shopping this weekend too – she went to Gifted on Saturday and then to the Christmas Flea at the Point Village on Sunday.  Both were brilliant – great for gifts, and great to see lots of cool Irish design and crafts on offer.

On The Screen

Niamh has been watching the crime drama series Bancroft on TV3. Sarah Parish plays the lead role of Detective Sergeant Bancroft and is excellent. It centres on Bancroft trying to take down a violent drug gang while also covering up a murder she committed herself 27 years ago, that is being reinvestigated by her colleague. Niamh is looking forward to seeing how it all plays out! It’s a four part series – and is on all week – so won’t have to wait long!

Martina watched ‘Victoria and Abdul’ and LOVED it – very sweet and feel-good.  Great for a cosy night in. She also started watching ‘Godless’ and, as a lifelong fan of Westerns, she’s enjoying it so far. (Yes, Martina is a fan of Westerns…)

On the Plate

While in London, Emily went to ‘Polpo’ in Covent Garden for Italian tapas style food and it was delish and really reasonably priced – especially their arancini balls. She also had a feast of Lebanese food in Tooting Bec on the Sunday – SO tasty, especially their moussaka. If you’re ever there – check out Meza!

Martina had dinner around the corner from the office recently – in Bar Italia in the Italian Quarter.  She really liked it – very nice service, complete with authentic Italian dramatics, and the food was good too.

Team Alice had a lovely lunch at The Wollen Mills after listening to Christmas carols as a goodbye to our intern Lizzy who will be returning to the U.S. this weekend! Goodbye Lizzy, we’ll miss you!

Looking forward to…

More holiday festivities!
