8th March is always a busy date in the Alice calendar, and this year is no different.

There’s lots of activity around International Women’s Day (IWD) each year with client events ranging from celebrations and fundraisers to awareness raising events.

So, ahead of the big day this Sunday, we’re shining a spotlight on what some of our clients are doing to mark the occasion.

Dress for Success Dublin

Dress for Success International Women's DayDress for Success Dublin continue their annual IWD campaign with the support of companies and organisations like Diageo, Mastercard and RSA Insurance. For the sixth year running, companies are organising clothing drives, fundraisers, panel discussions and even a limited whiskey release in aid of the charity.

As a female led organisation, working with women across Ireland to help them (re)enter the workforce and campaigning at all levels of business and politics for gender equality in the workplace equality, IWD is the perfect day to celebrate and support the charity.

Empower

Empower International Women's DayEmpower, the local development company for Fingal are running an interesting event today in Blanchardstown, highlighting the impact of endometriosis on the careers of women living with the condition. An often-hidden issue, endometriosis affects one in ten women in Ireland.

They’re hosting an awareness raising event, hearing from people who live with endometriosis, providing information and highlighting the practical steps that employers can take to support women living with the condition to stay in work. As many as one in six currently leave the workplace due to symptoms.

A really worthwhile issue to draw attention to this IWD!

DIAS

DIAS International Women's DayThe Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies have teamed up with Humans of Dublin for an online campaign this IWD. They’re shining a light on some of the formidable female researchers working with the Institute.

They’re highlighting the stories of women working in science and academia, an often male-dominated arena, by sharing short and fascinating profiles on the Humans of Dublin social platforms. You can read some of there them here.

As for us, Alice will be playing it a little more low-key (maybe raising a well-deserved glass at the end of the week). But, we’re are delighted to be working with our clients on these great campaigns – profiling, supporting and celebrating amazing women doing amazing things every day.

We wish you a all a wonderful International Women’s Day 2020.
