Introducing Kate McGovern, the newest member of Team Alice. Kate joined Alice PR as PR & Events Administrator last month. Now she’s well settled in, let’s introduce her properly.
As PR & Events Administrator, Kate plays a key role in the smooth running and ongoing growth of Alice. She provides executive support to the senior management team and works closely with our wider team to support client events and PR campaigns, using a combination of traditional, digital and social media tools.
Kate currently provides social media, content creation and media relations support to clients including The Local Enterprise Office for South Dublin, Amach LGBT Galway, Dress for Success Dublin, Computerology, the Irish Centre for Diversity, DIAS and Léargas.
With public health guidelines continuing to keep us all working from home, Team Alice hasn’t yet had an opportunity to welcome Kate (or Sorcha or Niamh!) in person yet, so – as we all get to know her through Zoom – we thought a proper introduction was in order.
Over to Kate!
Where and what did you study?
How did you get into PR? How did your career path lead to Alice PR?
I had previously worked in the legal industry and quickly realised it wasn’t what I wanted for myself. I felt that PR was the perfect combination of the two subject areas of my undergraduate degree. When I was looking for postgraduate courses in PR, I found Alice PR as a firm that offered internships and I was immediately excited about the work and clients Alice worked with.
What has been your standout moment with Alice PR so far?
Supporting the South Dublin Local Enterprise Office Awards 2021. I created a lot of digital content and managed the social media campaign around the awards, which I really enjoyed.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking of a career in PR, what would it be?
Consume as much media as possible and don’t be afraid to network! Reach out to companies you’re interested in working with and get your name out there.
Where can you be found when you’re not working?
On a yoga mat, out for a hike or walking my dogs, Joseph and Kevin (and, yes, they were named after the Jonas Brothers).
