Success for #TeamAlice at the PR Awards

Well, last Friday was a day to remember for #TeamAlice.  We donned our glad rags and headed to the Mansion House for the afternoon for the 2019 Awards for Excellence in PR. The Awards are organised jointly by the Public Relations Consultants Association, the Public Relations Institute of Ireland and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in Northern Ireland, and are aimed at showcasing best practice in Irish public relations and communications. We were delighted to be shortlisted in two awards categories this year – our first time to make the shortlist in the four-year history of Alice PR.  Our Niamh is Young Communications Professional of the Year!

Niamh Breathnach, Account Manager and Operations Manager at Alice, was one of three leading young professionals to be shortlisted for the hotly contested ‘Young Communications Professional of the Year’ award this year.  This was the last award to be announced at Friday’s event, so we were kept in suspense all afternoon.  But it was worth it!  Dearbhail McDonald, the excellent MC for the event, read out the judges’ citation before announcing Niamh as the 2019 Young Communications Professional of the Year.

According to the judges, her selection as the outright category winner was because she “demonstrated a particularly high level of capability in campaign planning and delivery, strong strategic insight, has a commitment to developing the profession through mentoring even younger talent… and has a clear understanding of [her] role in business management and expansion”.  We couldn’t agree more! This is a really prestigious accolade, and we are beyond proud of Niamh’s success.  We also know that it is hugely well deserved.  Since she joined #TeamAlice in early 2016 (as the company’s first fulltime employee alongside our founder, Martina), Niamh has played a key role in our ongoing growth and success.  And she’s not only a highly talented PR professional, but also a great team-mate and friend.  Highly commended for #WorkEqual

In addition to our huge excitement at Niamh’s success, #TeamAlice was highly commended in the ‘Best Issues-Led Campaign’ category at the PR Awards.  This was for our ongoing work with Dress for Success Dublin on the #WorkEqual campaign, which is aimed at promoting gender equality in the workplace.  We were delighted to be joined by Sonya Lennon, founder of Dress for Success Dublin, and Angela Smith, CEO of the organisation, at the awards ceremony. We didn’t win the overall award in this category on the day, but we are so pleased that this important campaign is receiving national attention; and we are delighted with our commendation and certificate of excellence.  A huge thank you to all at the PRCA, PRII and CIPR for organising such a great event.  Our celebrations lasted late into the night on Friday – and we’re already looking forward to next year’s awards 😊
