We were so busy last week, we forgot to do our weekly A-List! So here’s a bumper edition, covering all our cultural experiences from the past two weeks.
We’ve eaten the burgers and cheese, listened to the podcasts, watched the movies, and tasted the pints – all so you can know where to sample the best of culture in Ireland and beyond!
Over the past fortnight, we’ve been:
Attending:
- Ballet classes with The Ballet Coach on YouTube.
Visiting:
- The National Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin.
Watching:
- ‘A Secret Love’ and ‘McQueen’ on Netflix.
- ‘Succession’ – which we cannot recommend highly enough.
- MoLI’s nightly screenings of ‘Ulysses | Film’.
- Official Donmar Warehouse’s ‘Coriolanus’ with Tom Hiddleston.
- Musician Loah speaking about racism in Ireland.
Listening To:
- The Irish Times’ ‘Inside Politics’ podcast on #BlackLivesMatter, also featuring Loah, along with Fintan O’Toole, Sorcha Pollak & more.
- Radio MoLI, a “digital radio station for Irish literature”.
- ‘The Shift’ podcast with comedians Des Bishop and Katie Boyle.
- The music of Nadine Shah.
Reading:
- ‘Normal People’ by Sally Rooney (Ciara’s joining the party a little bit later than everyone else 😊).
- ‘On Beauty’ by Zadie Smith.
- ‘The Boy with the Topknot’ by Sathnam Sanghera.
- ‘Lost, Found, Remembered’, Lyra McKee’s collected articles.
Eating, Cooking and Drinking:
- Home-baked bread – paired deliciously with ALL the cheese.
- Lovely pizza by the Royal Canal in Phibsborough, thanks to the newly reopened Eatyard and the Village Pizza.
- Scrumptious fish and chips from Crudo (who also have a great deli and fresh veg on offer).
- Home-delivered Bunsen
- REAL PINTS from Hanlon’s Corner, a true luxury (according to Emily!).
Enjoying:
- Sea-swimming and walks to Sandymount Strand during the lovely sunshine last weekend.
- It’s been around for a while at this stage, but #TeamAlice are major fans of the ‘Old Ireland in Colour’ project. Check out their fabulous work brining old black & white photographs to life on Twitter and Instagram. The perfect way to while away some time, we think!
Looking Forward To:
- The National Concert Hall’s concert with Bell X1 frontman Paul Noonan at 8pm tonight – as part of the ‘NCH Live Stream Series’.
Enjoy the weekend, everyone!
