Anat Shenker-Osorio shares her top campaign tips with #TeamAlice

We were delighted to welcome renowned messaging and campaigns expert Anat Shenker-Osorio to Dublin last week, where she delivered a masterclass for #TeamAlice, as well as being our special guest at the first ever ‘Alice Asks…’ event.

Based in California, Anat has built her career around examining why some messages fail while others succeed. She helps progressive campaigns to develop messages that truly resonate with their target audiences. She has worked on issues like criminal justice reform, migrant rights, clean energy, and the freedom to join a union, both in the US and further afield.

Anat takes a straight-talking, no-nonsense approach to her work, calling out jargon and bluster and challenging the organisations she works with to move far beyond their comfort zones. Her work has led to electoral and policy victories across the globe.

Anat’s writing and research have been profiled in the New York Times, The Atlantic, the Boston Globe and The Guardian, amongst others. There is a chapter dedicated to her messaging advice in the excellent book ‘The Persuaders’ by US journalist and political commentator Anand Giridharadas. And Anat has also written her own book, ‘Don't Buy It: The Trouble with Talking Nonsense about the Economy’.

She hosts a fascinating podcast, ‘Words to Win By’, where she looks at the messaging shifts that led to real-world victories across the globe. Her company, ASO Communications, also offers a wealth of messaging resources on its website.

‘Alice Asks…’

‘Alice Asks…’ is a new event series from Alice Public Relations, designed to give our clients and friends access to internationally acclaimed speakers who are working to make the world a better place.

We were delighted to have Anat as the guest speaker for the first ever ‘Alice Asks…’ event, which took place in the beautiful RHA Gallery in Dublin last Thursday (28th September).

The event was attended by 100 leaders from the worlds of activism, politics, business and civil society.

Opening the event, our MD, Martina, announced a new Alice initiative, the Alice Academy for Activists.

In her input, Anat shared her top campaigning tips, and this was followed by a lively questions and answers session.
