We’re shortlisted in the 2022 PR Awards for Excellence

We’re delighted to be shortlisted in the ‘Best Long Term Campaign’ category of the 2022 Awards for Excellence in Public Relations – for our work with WorkEqual to promote workplace gender equality.

The PR Awards for Excellence are jointly hosted by the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) and the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) each year to celebrate the very best of Irish PR work over the previous 12 months. This year, over 50 campaigns have been shortlisted, including our own work with WorkEqual.

About WorkEqual

WorkEqual promotes the economic independence of women and aims to build an Ireland where everyone’s skills and potential are recognised by a society that champions workplace equality and remuneration. The organisation provides supports and career development services to women seeking to (re)enter the workforce.

When Alice was established in 2015, WorkEqual (then Dress for Success Dublin) became one of our very first clients, and we have been proud to work with them ever since. In 2016, we developed the annual WorkEqual awareness-raising campaign to promote gender equality in the workplace – and it’s this campaign that is now shortlisted for an award. The campaign aims to raise awareness of, and tackle, gender inequalities in Irish workplaces. It has run annually since 2016 and is centred around a month of activities each November, including Equal Pay Day – the date on which women effectively stop earning, relative to men, because of the gender pay gap.

Since the campaign’s establishment, it has built up cross-sectoral support amongst employers, employees, politicians, policymakers and civil society in Ireland and further afield. It has also led to positive legislative and public attitude changes. The most significant achievement for WorkEqual has been the enactment, in 2021, of the Gender Pay Gap Information Act, requiring employers to report on the pay differences between female and male employees. WorkEqual had lobbied for this legislation since 2016.

PR Awards Ceremony

The winners of the 2022 Awards for Excellence in Public Relations will be announced at a gala ceremony in the Mansion House on Friday, 24th June. We’re looking forward to attending and to meeting our colleagues from across the sector – in person for the first time in several years!

Our work with WorkEqual has been recognised by the PRCA and the PRII in previous years also: in 2019, we were highly commended in the ‘Best Issues-Led Campaign’ category; and, in 2020, we won the ‘Best Public Relations Event’ category for our work on WorkEqual’s inaugural stakeholder conference. At international level, our work with WorkEqual was also recognised last year in the prestigious Purpose Awards scheme for the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.
